Pupil, Sports & Catch Up Premiums

Year 7 catch up grant.

Schools receive a sum of money for each pupil in Year 7 who did not meet the expected standard in reading and writing at the end of Key Stage 2. This applies to all pupils in Y7 and the school will therefore receive £14,500 for 2019/20.

This will be divided between the two schools with Y7 pupils on a pro rata basis:

Niels Chapman Secondary School 14 pupils £7,250 – to provide additional staffing to allow more individual support for pupils

Margaret Brearley School 14 pupils £7,250 – to buy individual sensory resources to enable pupils access to the curriculum and development of skills.

Sports Grant

The PE and Sport Premium Grant is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities that they offer to their pupils. Whitefield will receive £15000 for 2019/20.

This will be used to support the provision of specialist PE staff. The school has a specialist PE teacher and a sports coach enabling classes across the school to follow a challenging PE curriculum and to take part in sports opportunities off site.

Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium Grant exists to support the education of disadvantaged pupils, defined as those who have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the previous 6 years. Whitefield will receive £168,000 for 2019/20.

This will be used to support the school’s Family Support Team, to ‘buy in’ additional Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy and to enrich the curriculum through purchasing resources targeted at individuals and funding expressive arts activities on site.
