Pupils from across the school showed their support for the local food bank Heat or Eat by designing plates featuring famous Walthamstow landmarks. News of the plates quickly spread when they were featured in the Walthamstow Guardian in April and Heat or Eat trustee Nat DiMaggio tweeted pictures of the plates before their Spring Fair.
Willing staff volunteers sold the plates, along with other handmade good that had been produced by pupils across the school, at the Heat or Eat Spring Fair on 26th April. We raised over £200 selling the hand crafted items and the plates were a sell out! The money raised was split between Heat or Eat and the Whitefield’s Social Enterprise Project which is being developed to teach students valuable work skills.
The next Heat or Eat fair is on 14th June and the school will be have another stall selling hand made goods as well as running creative activities for members of the public to come and try.
