Staff at Joseph Clarke School were delighted by an excellent set of exam results this summer. Five students achieved Entry Level Certificate (ELC) qualifications and 10 gained GCSEs; including two A* grades in English and French. Two students also gained BTEC Level 3 Diplomas — one with a double grade merit and one with double grade distinction merit.
Pupils had the opportunity to take GCSEs in up to 7 subjects and the results in English, French and Science were particularly strong. Those taking science were taught with their mainstream peers at Highams Park School. This demonstrates continuing success of our partnership with them and the opportunities for inclusion that we provide.
While we share the joy of the pupils who have achieved high grades or personal goals, we are equally proud of those pupils for whom sitting a public exam represents an achievement in itself. The results pay tribute to the dedication of our staff and the hard work of the pupils.
English Teacher Cheryl Aubury said "These are outstanding results for this group of pupils. They have all overcome their disabilities to achieve these results; and in one case prolonged periods of ill-health. Their hard work and dedication has paid off. Use of English is an entry point for all other subjects".
