From September, life will be simpler for mainstream schools in Waltham Forest that need help supporting children and young people with special needs.
SENDsuccess is the new name for the combined team from the Whitefield Outreach and Joseph Clarke Educational Service teams. Starting in September, whether you are looking for support with autism, visual impairment, hearing impairment or learning difficulties, there will be one phone number, one e-mail address and one website.
SENDsuccess will also provide online training in special needs for new classroom-staff in the borough as well as online resources and information for both educational professionals and parents and carers.
The aim is to make referring a child and getting support easier, simpler and clearer. But it will still be the same people, with the same expertise running the service.
You can help.
We want to hear your views on what information you would find most useful on the the new website.
- If you are a teacher, or teaching assistant you can fill in this short questionnaire here
- If you are a parent or carer, fill in this slightly different questionnaire
It's still early days – we'll publish the website, e-mail addresses and phone number for SEND support in the next couple of months, in the meantime you can still contact the Educational Service and Outreach on their existing numbers - visit www.whitefield.org.uk/outreach for contacts and referral forms.
