Joseph Clarke School has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Royal Society for our project ‘How you can say where things are in space’ which uses a variety of technologies to let vision impaired students explore and create objects in three-dimensional virtual space. The project is being undertaken in partnership with the ‘Knowledge Lab’ at the Institute of Education, University of London.
The team from mosaic group Artyface visited last week to begin work on the decorative tiles that will become a mosaic later on this year in Highams Park station.
Our poets were invited to perform at Walthamstow Central Library at a Celebration of Poems and Languages put on by the Waltham Forest Bilingual Groupas part of the Borough of Culture events.
We were guests of Arundel Cricket Club for two nights at the beginning of May. The annual trip, funded by the Arundel Cricket Foundation gives students the opportunity to learn cricket skills, but just as importantly gives them a taste of independence and it was their first trip away from home for four of our students this year.
Victoria class from Joseph Clarke school had the pleasure of meeting Marshall the wood sculptor last week. They learned about the different types of trees and wood through touching and smelling and also found out about Waltham Forest being the London Borough of Culture this year.
At Joseph Clarke School we want to do everything we possibly can to help parents and families support their children. The Leading Parent Partnership Award is national award for outstanding parental engagement in schools. We've been working towards getting the award since September 2018. Here's what we've been doing.
Whitefield Academy Trust’s work helping students into the world of work has received national recognition from Nasen (National Association of Special Educational Needs) with an award for Excellent Practice in Post-16 education. The award, presented at ceremony at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London celebrates outstanding practice that provides improved outcomes for young people.

The school that would form the seed of Joseph Clarke School first opened in 1918 and to mark the occasion, HRH Princess Michael of Kent visited today to unveil a plaque commemorating both the school's centenary, as well as its new modernisation and expansion.
Joseph Clarke school will be getting its own radio station and a set of speciality bicycles, thanks to the untiring work of the Joseph Clarke Trust and very generous donations by QBE, the Greater London Fund for the Blind and the Foyle Foundation.

Our students held an exhibition of their work at Waltham Forest College this week - showing off what they had learned about IT, and what it takes to build a company website.
