Learning Support Assistant Apprenticeships

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities. 
Learning Support Assistants work alongside teachers and help teach skills to individual pupils.

 

  • Term time only
  • 34 hours per week x 45.6 per year 
  • Salary scale 1: actual salary £10,852
  • 15 months full time contract

You'll be someone who likes children and young people and is willing to be responsible both for helping them learn, but also for their safety and wellbeing. 
It's not always an easy job, but it offers huge job satisfaction. You'll be part of a supportive team and we'll teach you how. Whitefield is noted for its staff training and professional development.

About you:

We are looking for Candidates who are caring, have had experience of working with students/children in either a voluntary or paid capacity to work with children or older students who have behavioural and learning difficulties. Applicants must have GCSE grade A-C   or equivalent in Maths and English. You will be asked to provide evidence.

The successful candidate will complete a fully structured apprenticeship training programme. This will involve regular workplace visits and assessments, off the job training and development on the job through mentoring and coaching. Full training will be provided by Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service.

  • Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Apprenticeship Framework
  •  Functional Skills ICT level 1
  •  Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  •  Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

About Us: 

Whitefield Academy Trust comprises two special schools for pupils aged 3 – 19, both situated in the London Borough of Waltham Forest (but attracting referrals from a much wider area). 

Whitefield Schools has an international reputation in special education expertise, curriculum and resources.  The School provides specialist education for pupils with complex needs including communication and interaction difficulties. 

Joseph Clarke School is highly regarded for its expertise in visual impairment. Both Schools attract pupils from across London and surrounding counties with SEN.  Together the schools have more than 425 pupils on roll.  

Whitefield’s Research and Development Centre provides support, training and resources for both school staff and other professionals. It also hosts an excellent library and an Outreach Service which supports pupils across 4 Local Authorities.
