21st March 2020: It is with deep sadness that the Trust has to announce that Peter Jeffrey has passed away after battling against a long term illness. Peter was a Trustee for 19 years and a valued member of the Trust's Committee. Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife, Beryl, and the rest of his family.
The Joseph Clarke School Trust is a Registered Charity that was founded in 1990 and supports Joseph Clarke School.
- The Trust's patron is Princess Michael of Kent.
- The Charity registration number is 1000964.
The Charity’s Committee works very closely with the Head Teacher and Deputy, who attend the Trust meetings and act in an advisory capacity. Together, we seek to provide much needed equipment, resources and activities, which enrich pupils' lives and education.
What we do
The Trust had a successful Financial Year from 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020 and were able
to help Fund:
- Purchase of Specially adapted Bicycles
- Purchase additional Braille Notetakers
- Completion of the Gardens
- 3 day Trip to Arundel courtesy of the Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation in April 2019
- Christmas Party
The Trust's Income came from their Fundraising Events, such as a Golf Day, ‘Owl’ Walk and Quiz Night that raised nearly £8,000, a Grant from D M Thomas Foundation for Young People and a Donation from the Chingford Rotary Club.
Due to Covid-19 the Trust had to cancel all Fundraising events, etc from 31st March 2020 to 31st December 2020 so will be facing some challenging times in the near future. However, the Trust has started planning for 2021 and beyond. Fortunately, in May 2020 the Trust received a generous donation of £5,000 from The Jaspar Foundation, who will be the Trust’s Main Sponsor for next year’s Golf Day.
The School took delivery of a brand new Minibus in November that was jointly funded by the Joseph
Clarke School Trust and the Lord's Taverners. The official handover will take as soon as the Covid-19 situation permits.
At the end of November the Trust received just over £6,000 from the Co-op Local Community
Fund to purchase another Braille Notetaker.
The Trust’s and School’s Aims and Activities from 1st January 2021 to 31st March 2022 are as
- January 2021/March 2022 – Help to fund the purchase of additional Braille Notetakers
- March/April 2021 – Re-arrange the performance of 'The Extraordinary Adventures of You and Me’
- April/May 2021 - Help to fund a School Trip to Arundel courtesy of The Arundel Castle Cricket
