  • Schools will remain closed from the 1st June with wider opening for primary children under review

    Whitefield Schools and Joseph Clarke School will remain closed from the 1st June and will keep the wider opening for primary children under review.
    From the 2nd June, Joseph Clarke School will be offering child care for the children of key workers, for the most vulnerable children – identified by our safeguarding team and by local social services – and for those whose needs cannot be safely met at home.

    The whole academy, Whitefield Schools, Joseph Clarke School and Project Search will be closed from the end of the day on Thursday 19th March until further notice due to the continuing impact of the Coronavirus.

  • Joseph Clarke School Trust Golf Day set to raise over £5,000

    The Joseph Clarke School Trust held its 6th Charity Golf Day at West Essex Golf Course and the early indications are that the Trust will have raised in excess of their target of £5,000. As in previous years the Trust is extremely grateful for the generous support and sponsorship from both local Businesses and Friends of the Trust.

  • Joseph Clarke School Radio goes live!

    It’s finally here! After a tremendous amount of work by students, staff and our friends at ‘hSpark’,  Highams Park’s own community radio station,  the Joseph Clarke School radio station has gone live. Tune in from 5pm on weekdays or 1pm at weekends to hear programmes made by the students from Metropolitan, Victoria, Bakerloo and Central Line classes.

  • Royal Society awards Joseph Clarke School grant for innovative IT project.

    Joseph Clarke School has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Royal Society for our project ‘How you can say where things are in space’ which uses a variety of technologies to let vision impaired students explore and create objects in three-dimensional virtual space.  The project is being undertaken in partnership with the ‘Knowledge Lab’ at the Institute of Education, University of London.

  • A trip that's about much more than just cricket

    We were guests of Arundel Cricket Club for two nights at the beginning of May. The annual trip, funded by the Arundel Cricket Foundation gives students the opportunity to learn cricket skills, but just as importantly gives them a taste of independence and it was their first trip away from home for four of our students this year.

  • Sculpture trail comes to Joseph Clarke School

    Victoria class from Joseph Clarke school had the pleasure of meeting Marshall the wood sculptor last week. They  learned about the different types of trees and wood through touching and smelling and also found out about Waltham Forest being the London Borough of Culture this year.

  • Academy wins Nasen's national award for excellent practice in Post-16 education

    Whitefield Academy Trust’s work helping students into the world of work has received national recognition from Nasen (National Association of Special Educational Needs) with an award for Excellent Practice in Post-16 education. The award, presented at ceremony at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London celebrates outstanding practice that provides improved outcomes for young people.
