This event will take place between 10:00am and 12:00pm on 30/06/2020.
We are offering free 'Engagement Model Training' to schools in line with the most recent statutory DfE guidance, https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-engagement-model.
It is the case that from the 2020/21 academic year, all maintained schools, maintained special schools, academies and local authorities are required to implement ‘The Engagement Model’ as a new form of assessment for pupils working below the standard of the national curriculum tests and not engaged in subject-specific study. This replaces P scales 1-4.
The engagement model does not replace existing planning and assessment systems and schools will have autonomy over how it will be implemented. The model encourages schools to measure each pupils’ progress independently, according to their individual profile of needs. It can also be used as a baseline tool to track and support ongoing progress. Schools are not required to submit data to the Department for Education (DfE) about the achievements and progress of each pupil. However, schools must report which primary-aged pupils are being assessed using the engagement model.
Our training aims to help schools:
· Understand what the engagement model is
· Explore what is meant by the term engagement
· Make links between the engagement model and the curriculum
· Develop confidence in using the Engagement Model to inform teaching and learning and disseminate to a wider audience
The requirement is that participants attend three 2 hour sessions.
These will take place on the dates listed below, from 10am - 12noon:
Tuesday 30th June 2020
Wednesday 1st July 2020
Thursday 2nd July 2020
Given the present Covid 19 situation, we will be conducting our training via video conference call (zoom). We will therefore, need the names and email addresses of any participants wishing to attend. Please forward these to L.firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 1st June.
