Pioneers of SEND Provision
With their roots stretching back over 100 years, Whitefield Academy Trust’s schools have a long and proud history of offering exceptional SEND provision to children and young people in east London.
Whilst society’s attitudes towards people with complex needs have changed considerably over the past century, our schools have constantly adapted and remained at the forefront of the SEND sector leading the way in how pupils with special needs are educated and supported.
Both Whitefield and Joseph Clarke Schools have had various different names and approaches over the years but each has responded to the current challenges of the day, pioneering new methods of teaching and supporting children and young people with SEND and vision impairment needs. Both schools have built formidable national and international reputations welcoming visitors from across the world who are keen to see first-hand how we achieve excellent outcomes for our pupils.
With a similar ethos and set of values, the schools decided to join forces in 2014 to create Whitefield Academy Trust. Whilst operating as separate schools with their own identities, the schools work together to share expertise and experience. They also contribute to and benefit from our Professional Development Services, which provide a wide range of teacher training programmes and specialist outreach services. They look forward to an exciting future together.
