Physiotherapy

The physiotherapists assess children with:

  • developmental delay
  • physical disability
  • difficulties in movement and co-ordination

They are usually referred by the school doctor or another therapist.  Following assessment, the child is placed on a treatment waiting list and prioritised according to their need.  Wherever possible treatment is carried out in a multi-disciplinary setting within the school, where there is close liaison with other therapists and classroom staff.

Non-Waltham Forest pupils

  • Responsibility of physiotherapists at school, during term time
  • Responsibility of their local physiotherapist service during the school holidays.

Orthotist

Children requiring assessment by the Orthotist are referred to the Orthotic Service by the Physiotherapist. Clinics are held twice a month, and appointments are made in advance, to which parents/carers are invited to attend.
